Gaurav Dubey: Founder & Executive Producer

Gaurav Dubey is a published neuroscientist on a mission to change the world. He has attended undergraduate at the University of Miami, where he earned his B.S. in Biology and his B.A. in Philosophy. He went on to work at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics and garnered his first scholarly publication in Neuroscience Letters for using stem cells to create neurological disease models. He went on to pursue higher education and earned his Master's of Science in Biotechnology at Rush University. Recently, he was accepted to the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine to earn his PhD as a PIBS (Program in Biological Sciences) Student where he worked with Dr. Fangliang Zhang on protein arginylation research, a rarity in the field of Biological Sciences, as only 8 labs conduct this research worldwide. Following this, he participated in research under Dr. Joshua Hare, a forerunner in stem cell research, at the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute (ISCI). Here, he had the fortune of working on a project with NASA: Codename CASIS (Center for Advancement of Science in Space).

Currently, he has decided to leave his doctoral research behind to pursue creative and business interests such as founding BIOLITICS as well as creating other innovative shows with passionate thought-leaders and professionals around the country.  An avid jazz enthusiast, he plays the alto saxophone and has invested great energy into his passion of kundalini yoga and Eastern Spirituality.

Dominic Vita: Co-Founder & Executive Producer

Dominic Vita began his journey into the sciences at an early age, receiving his first microscope at the age of 5. His intrigue did not stop there, and an ever-increasing fascination with the natural world drew him to a career in research. He received a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Miami, double majoring in biology and marine science while also completing a minor in chemistry. As an undergraduate, Dominic’s broad interests lead him to work in numerous laboratories researching diverse topics including cancer biology, transgenic organisms, coral and sea grass ecology, drugs and behavior, underwater archaeology, and neurodevelopment. He is currently completing a PhD in the biological sciences at Vanderbilt University where his research is focused on understanding the molecular underpinnings in the neurodevelopmental disorder fragile x syndrome, a debilitating form of inherited autism.

Apart from his love of science and research, Dominic is also and avid teacher. He has 5 years of experience teaching undergraduate students in introductory biology and transmission electron microscopy. As an instructor he understands the importance of instilling not just knowledge, but also the ability to critically analyze the surrounding world. As a member of the BIOLITICS team Dominic hopes to expand on this concept and bring science to the general public in such a way that they can both comprehend and question these topics.

Dean Sangalis: Editor in Chief

Having recently completed Colorado State’s Creative Nonfiction graduate program, Dean Sangalis currently lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he writes stories, probes the mysteries of life, and sometimes idly wishes he majored in the sciences. Still, he recognizes the necessity for narrative in effective communication; after a couple years in the halls of academia, he saw that the language employed in these settings was harshly disconnected from the pragmatism of daily life––and the everyday language of people. By expressing academic and scientific ideas through story or metaphor (i.e. grounding abstract concepts in an accessible language), he believes that we can foster a better understanding of our world and our place within it.
